QLD: Multimillion dollar high rise approved at Broadbeach

A multimillion dollar Spanish-style high-rise will be built on the only available land at
Broadbeach in the heart of Queensland's Gold Coast.

Gold Coast developers, Raptis Group Limited, will begin work on the $120 million Bel Air on
Broadbeach resort in early June after the Gold Coast City Council approved the three-tower
apartment and resort development.

Last year the company bought the site, opposite Pacific Fair shopping precinct, from
Melbourne's Crown Casino owner/operators Hudson Conway.

The 91-apartment first stage is expected to be finished by February next year, with the
140-apartment stage two to begin construction by the end of this year.

The final stage features a 14-level resort hotel with 100 rooms and retail facilities.

Raptis Group spokesman GRAHAM STAERK says first stage apartments will range from $198,000
for one-bedroom apartments to the Sky Suites, which are priced between $450,000 and $550,000.

In a statement, Member for Merrimac and state deputy Liberal party leader, BOB QUINN, says
the project is a major vote of confidence in the future of Broadbeach, creating hundreds of
jobs during and after construction.
