Fed: Crean denies reshuffle linked to union anger

Opposition Leader SIMON CREAN has denied poor relations with sections of the unionmovement are behind his latest frontbench reshuffle.

Mr CREAN yesterday added Victorian MP ALAN GRIFFIN to his frontbench team to targetthe government on consumer affairs.

He also handed the job of Special Minister of State to Labor's Senate leader JOHN FAULKNER.

Mr CREAN says Senator FAULKNER will act as the key link between the parliamentary wingof the ALP and the the trade union movement, as well as grassroot ALP members.

Mr GRIFFIN replaces CARMEN LAWRENCE, also from Labor's left faction, who quit the frontbenchlast year in protest at Labor policy on asylum seekers and Iraq.

Opposition treasury spokesman BOB MCMULLAN adopts Dr LAWRENCE'S arts portfolio.

Victoria's NICOLA ROXON added the role of Status of Women to her Children and Youthaffairs portfolio.
